Famous Examples of Life Writing
Life writing has been evident for nearly 2,000 years. St Augustine's autobiographical work being one example from the late 4th century BC.
Margery Kempe, an early 15th-century English woman, is believed to have written the first autobiography in the English language, though it was a production that depended upon the help of scribes. Other famous examples include Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler and Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela.

Famous quotes containing the words famous, examples, life and/or writing:
“My neighbors tell me of their adventures with famous gentlemen and ladies, what notabilities they met at the dinner-table; but I am no more interested in such things than in the contents of the Daily Times. The interest and the conversation are about costume and manners chiefly; but a goose is a goose still, dress it as you will.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“No rules exist, and examples are simply life-savers answering the appeals of rules making vain attempts to exist.”
—André Breton (18961966)
“... into that rushing beast of the night,
sucked up by that great dragon, to split
from my life with no flag,
no belly,
no cry.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“His writing is not about something. It is the thing itself.”
—Samuel Beckett (19061989)
