Li Tie

Li Tie (simplified Chinese: 李铁; traditional Chinese: 李鐵; pinyin: Lǐ Tiě; born May 18, 1977 in Shenyang, Liaoning) is an assistant coach for Guangzhou Evergrande and was former professional Chinese international footballer who played as a midfielder.

Born in Shenyang he started his career playing for Liaoning and rose to prominence during the 1999 Chinese league season when Liaoning came runners-up within the league. Li's form saw him become an integral member of the Chinese national football team where he was part of the squad that went to the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He moved to English Premier League club Everton in 2002 where after an impressive debut season his career at the club was blighted by a string of injuries. He moved to Sheffield United before returning to China with Chengdu Blades and subsequently finishing his career with his first club Liaoning.

Famous quotes containing the word tie:

The perception of the comic is a tie of sympathy with other men, a pledge of sanity, and a protection from those perverse tendencies and gloomy insanities in which fine intellects sometimes lose themselves. A rogue alive to the ludicrous is still convertible. If that sense is lost, his fellow-men can do little for him.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
