LGBT Rights in Seychelles - Same-sex Sexual Acts

Same-sex Sexual Acts

Section 151 of The Penal Code says,

Any person who -

(a) has carnal knowledge of any person against the order of nature; or

* * * *

(c) permits a male person to have carnal knowledge of him ... against the order of nature,

is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.

Female same-sex sexual acts are not covered by Section 151 or any other criminal law of the Seychelles.

In October 2011, the government agreed to decriminalize same-sex sexual acts "pretty soon, as the government and civil society want so."

Famous quotes containing the word acts:

    Every community is an association of some kind and every community is established with a view to some good; for everyone always acts in order to obtain that which they think good. But, if all communities aim at some good, the state or political community, which is the highest of all, and which embraces all the rest, aims at good in a greater degree than any other, and at the highest good.
    Aristotle (384–323 B.C.)
