LGBT Rights In Malaysia
LGBT rights are largely unrecognized in Malaysia. Though many Malaysians are generally tolerant towards, and accepting of, LGBT individuals, the government retains the colonial era penal code criminalizing sodomy. Social attitudes towards the LGBT community are also shaped by Islam, the official religion in Malaysia.
As Malaysia continues to develop, support for LGBT rights is increasing.
