Programs For Startups
The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship offers a variety of programs designed to assist Berkeley-Haas students and community members in creating scalable startups:
- Accelerate Your New Venture: UC Berkeley Startup Accelerator @ Skydeck - The Startup Accelerator's purpose is to produce fundable startup companies with scalable business models. The new approach to incubation at Berkeley will match an exclusive group of companies with high-quality mentors with deep expertise and connections in industry and Venture Capital. The Accelerator is housed at Skydeck, which offers premium, fully equipped office space with excellent transit options and close proximity to campus. There is ample conference, meeting, and event space. Companies will be given support through customer development processes and business model validation by seasoned entrepreneurs. Ultimately, selected companies will be on a path to revenue generation and securing funding. In September 2012, the Skydeck was featured in the Financial Times as the leading example of an equivalent to private start-up incubators and accelerators with goals of education and learning rather than profit.
- Meet with a Mentor: Entrepreneurs Corner Mentoring Program - Since 1996 the Lester Center has recruited successful Bay Area entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and professional service providers to serve as student mentors. These generous individuals act as leaders, mentors and educators through our Entrepreneurs Corner office hours available to students who need advice or help with their business ideas and career goals.
- Venture Capital Roundtable - The Roundtable is an annual event that provides entrepreneurs with the opportunity to meet with over 35 leading venture capitalists from the valley, all in one place. This intimate event gives students exposure and the opportunity to speak with representatives from the venture capital industry in an informal setting.
- Entrepreneurs Roundable -This event brings together students and fellow entrepreneurs who have started companies and can talk with budding entrepreneurs about the challenges and excitement of the start-up world.
- Courses - The Lester Center helps to provide graduate students with a variety of courses on entrepreneurship including Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Investing in Entrepreneurial Opportunities, Business Model Innovation & Entrepreneurial Strategy, Managing Innovation and Change and Venture Capital and IPO Law: Advising the Emerging Growth Company.
