Leonard Greene - Policy and Charitable Work - Corporate Angel Network

Corporate Angel Network

In 1981, Greene, whose second wife died of cancer, helped start and finance Corporate Angel Network (CAN), a charitable organization which arranges free transportation on corporate jets for cancer patients. This organization has 530 participating corporations who generously offer their empty seats to cancer patients. CAN flies more than 2,500 cancer patients a year. To date, the organization has flown more than 25,000 patients to treatment centers nationwide.

Greene flew the first Corporate Angel Network Flight on December 22, 1981, when he brought a 16-year old cancer patient home to Detroit who had just received treatment in New York City.

Famous quotes containing the words corporate, angel and/or network:

If when a businessman speaks of minority employment, or air pollution, or poverty, he speaks in the language of a certified public accountant analyzing a corporate balance sheet, who is to know that he understands the human problems behind the statistical ones? If the businessman would stop talking like a computer printout or a page from the corporate annual report, other people would stop thinking he had a cash register for a heart. It is as simple as that—but that isn’t simple.
    Louis B. Lundborg (1906–1981)

He looked about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

Of what use, however, is a general certainty that an insect will not walk with his head hindmost, when what you need to know is the play of inward stimulus that sends him hither and thither in a network of possible paths?
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
