Famous quotes containing the words leisure, suit, box, office and/or bust:
“A broad margin of leisure is as beautiful in a mans life as in a book. Haste makes waste, no less in life than in housekeeping. Keep the time, observe the hours of the universe, not of the cars. What are threescore years and ten hurriedly and coarsely lived to moments of divine leisure in which your life is coincident with the life of the universe?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Please God, were all right here. Please leave us alone.
Dont send death in his fat red suit and his ho-ho baritone.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“Appeal. In law, to put the dice into the box for another throw.”
—Ambrose Bierce (18421914)
“No people is wholly civilized where a distinction is drawn between stealing an office and stealing a purse.”
—Theodore Roosevelt (18581919)
“Workers of the world forgive me.”
—Graffito on the bust of Karl Marx in Bucharest. Quoted in Times (London, May 4, 1990)
