Famous quotes containing the words leisure, suit, box, office and/or bust:
“A broad margin of leisure is as beautiful in a mans life as in a book. Haste makes waste, no less in life than in housekeeping. Keep the time, observe the hours of the universe, not of the cars. What are threescore years and ten hurriedly and coarsely lived to moments of divine leisure in which your life is coincident with the life of the universe?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“It is cowardly to fly from natural duties and take up those that suit our taste or temperament better; but it is also unwise to take an exaggerated view of personal duties, which shuts out the proper care of the mind and body entrusted to us.”
—Ellen Henrietta Swallow Richards (18421911)
“I walked on the banks of the tincan banana dock and sat down under the huge shade of a Southern Pacific locomotive to look at the sunset over the box house hills and cry.”
—Allen Ginsberg (b. 1926)
“Theres something about the dead silence of an office building at night. Not quite real. The traffic down below is something that didnt have anything to do with me.”
—John Paxton (19111985)
“Workers of the world forgive me.”
—Graffito on the bust of Karl Marx in Bucharest. Quoted in Times (London, May 4, 1990)
