Leicester Penguins Swimming Club - Club Overview

Club Overview

Leicester Penguins Swimming Club was formed in 1960. Its membership fluctuates each year between 250 and 300 swimmers, with training taking 5 pools around the Leicester area. The Club caters for swimmers at the start of their competitive career through to County and National Honours.

The Club competes in a number of premier competitions such as:- Speedo league (West Midlands Division), Leicester & District Swimming League, Nuneaton & District Diddy League and the Leicester & District Diddy League.

For individual recognition, there are the Club Championships to aim for, where they can gain medals and overall awards. In addition to these the club encourages swimmers to enter a number of designated ‘Open Meets’ (championships held by other clubs but are ‘open’ for swimmers from other clubs to compete in). There are also a number of friendly galas where swimmers may be selected to gain competition experience.

Famous quotes containing the word club:

In another year I’ll have enough money saved. Then I’m gonna go back to my hometown in Oregon and I’m gonna build a house for my mother and myself. And join the country club and take up golf. And I’ll meet the proper man with the proper position. And I’ll make a proper wife who can run a proper home and raise proper children. And I’ll be happy, because when you’re proper, you’re safe.
    Daniel Taradash (b. 1913)
