Killing All Mankind
The Qur'an relates a Talmudic parable about the value of human life in its account of the murder of Abel by Cain.
Quran
“ | On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. -- | ” |
The Qur'an does not mention Abel and Cain by name, but refers to them as the two sons of Adam, " Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam" --.
Mishnah
“ | For this reason, man was created alone to teach that whoever destroys a single life is as though he had destroyed the entire world, and whoever saves a single life is as if he had saved the entire world. Mishnah Sanhedrin, 4:5 | ” |

Famous quotes containing the words killing and/or mankind:
“At twelve I was determined to shoot only
For honor; at twenty not to shoot at all;
I know at thirty-three that one must shoot
As often as one gets the rare chance
In killing there is more than commentary.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“Whether or not the world would be vastly benefited by a total banishment from it of all intoxicating drinks seems not now an open question. Three-fourths of mankind confess the affirmative with their tongues, and I believe all the rest acknowledge it in their hearts.”
—Abraham Lincoln (18091865)
