Legazpi Junior College, now Aquinas University of Legazpi, was founded on June 8, 1948. by Don Buenaventura de Erquiaga; the name changed to Legazpi Collegein 1952. It became a university on March 8, 1968, as Aquinas University of Legazpi. In 1975, the University acquired Legazpi Medical Center. W now called Aquinas University Hospital.
