The majority of the Leasowe area is governed locally as Leasowe and Moreton East Ward. The ward takes in the Leasowe housing estate, developments along Leasowe Road and East Moreton. The Ward is Represented by Conservative Party Councillor Ian Lewis and by Labour Party Councillors: Ron Abbey and Iris Coates. The most recent local elections took place on May 1, 2008. Ian Lewis was elected as the first Conservative Party Councillor in the Ward's history.
