Learoyd

Learoyd is a surname found mainly in West Yorkshire in England. It can be translated as "meadow in the clearing of a forest", which suggests Learoyds of old worked the land or lived on land that was of this nature.

During the 19th century a branch of Learoyds moved to the city of Leeds, while others moved westwards towards Liverpool. Many Learoyds still however live in Calderdale, where the name originated, Bradford and Kirklees. (All information was gathered from Censuses). Many Learoyds relocated to Canada, and are primarily based in the Toronto area, Edmonton and Vancouver.
