Leaning Pine Arboretum

The Leaning Pine Arboretum is located on 5 acres (20,000 m2) at the north end of the California Polytechnic State University campus in San Luis Obispo, California, USA.

Collections are arranged primarily by nativity and feature a diverse array of trees, shrubs, and other landscape plants appropriate for California's Central Coast area. The gardens display hundreds of unique and intriguing plants primarily from the world's five mediterranean climate regions: Australia, California, Chile, the Mediterranean basin, and South Africa. The arboretum also has a New Zealand garden, a Dwarf and Unusual Conifer garden, a Formal garden, and displays of cycads, palms, and numerous succulents.

Visitors are always welcome. The arboretum is open year 'round. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, except academic holidays. There is no admission fee. Because plants change with the seasons, you are encouraged to return often to enjoy the many and varied highlights and vistas. The Leaning Pine Arboretum is a living laboratory of plants for all to enjoy.

Famous quotes containing the words leaning and/or pine:

Whether in the bringing of the flowers or the food
She offers plenty, and is part of plenty,
And whether I see her stooping, or leaning with the flowers,
What she does is ages old, and she is not simply,
No, but lovely in that way.
    Bernard Spencer (1909–1963)

Generally speaking, the political news, whether domestic or foreign, might be written today for the next ten years with sufficient accuracy. Most revolutions in society have not power to interest, still less alarm us; but tell me that our rivers are drying up, or the genus pine dying out in the country, and I might attend.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
