Lead Me On (Amy Grant Song) - Chart Success

Chart Success

The song might have been too strong for the general market. Like almost all the other singles from the album, it topped the Christian radio chart. However, the secular market was not as welcoming. "Lead Me On" spent only two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #96. In the United Kingdom, the single fared slightly better, peaking at #89. The poor mainstream commercial reception of the album would later cause Grant to abandon the serious side on her next album, 1991's Heart In Motion, and instead go for a pop/contemporary sound that would make her a bona fide pop artist.

Famous quotes containing the words chart and/or success:

Perhaps in His wisdom the Almighty is trying to show us that a leader may chart the way, may point out the road to lasting peace, but that many leaders and many peoples must do the building.
    Eleanor Roosevelt (1884–1962)

The heroes of the world community are not those who withdraw when difficulties ensue, not those who can envision neither the prospect of success nor the consequence of failure—but those who stand the heat of battle, the fight for world peace through the United Nations.
    Hubert H. Humphrey (1911–1978)
