Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Miami - History

History

Established in September 2003, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Miami began offering classes to students in May 2004. The association with the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts - Paris makes the history of the college go as far back as 1895. Le Cordon Bleu’s name can be traced back to the 16th century where members of the Order of the Holy Spirit were awarded a medallion that was suspended from a Blue Ribbon, Le Cordon Bleu, by King Henry III. In the 19th century “La Cuisinere Cordon Bleu”, a collection of recipes, was published and received great success. Following the release of the recipe collection, the publishers established a culinary school under the Le Cordon Bleu name and have created a highly coveted culinary arts training program.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Yet poetry, though the last and finest result, is a natural fruit. As naturally as the oak bears an acorn, and the vine a gourd, man bears a poem, either spoken or done. It is the chief and most memorable success, for history is but a prose narrative of poetic deeds.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The history of all Magazines shows plainly that those which have attained celebrity were indebted for it to articles similar in natureto Berenice—although, I grant you, far superior in style and execution. I say similar in nature. You ask me in what does this nature consist? In the ludicrous heightened into the grotesque: the fearful coloured into the horrible: the witty exaggerated into the burlesque: the singular wrought out into the strange and mystical.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)

I believe that history has shape, order, and meaning; that exceptional men, as much as economic forces, produce change; and that passé abstractions like beauty, nobility, and greatness have a shifting but continuing validity.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
