Le Boeuf Brothers - Biography

Biography

At the age of 12, Remy & Pascal began performing at local farmer's markets and on the main strip in downtown Santa Cruz every weekend for fun. They were widely recognized for their talents as musicians and composers throughout high school and upon graduating in 2004 moved to New York City to study at the Manhattan School of Music. They are now considered part of a growing New York jazz scene characterized by odd time signatures, shifting harmonies, and the influences of hip hop, electronica, and indie rock. The San Francisco Chronicle describes their music as “a rich brand of modern jazz, with performances and compositions that display an impressive level of sophistication. Textured harmonies and shifting time signatures are handled with aplomb.”

The Le Boeuf Brothers won Independent Music Awards for Best Album & Best Song; 1st place in the International Songwriting Competition, 12 total ASCAP Young Composer Awards and various awards from Downbeat Magazine. Additionally, the Le Boeuf Brothers have been commissions from Chamber Music America’s 2011 New Jazz Works: Commissioning and Ensemble Development program funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, ASCAP/IAJE, and the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA). The Le Boeuf Brothers have also toured internationally and performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, the Umbria Jazz Festival, and Jazz @ Lincoln Center.

Famous quotes containing the word biography:

As we approached the log house,... the projecting ends of the logs lapping over each other irregularly several feet at the corners gave it a very rich and picturesque look, far removed from the meanness of weather-boards. It was a very spacious, low building, about eighty feet long, with many large apartments ... a style of architecture not described by Vitruvius, I suspect, though possibly hinted at in the biography of Orpheus.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A biography is like a handshake down the years, that can become an arm-wrestle.
    Richard Holmes (b. 1945)

The death of Irving, which at any other time would have attracted universal attention, having occurred while these things were transpiring, went almost unobserved. I shall have to read of it in the biography of authors.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
