Launch Control (automotive) - How IT Works

How It Works

Manual launch control can be operated in both manual and automatic gear-shift automobile. Operating launch control is to shift gearbox to neutral position. Holding accelerator until the revolving speed of engine reaches maximum torque output speed. Then shift gearbox to first gear, and release clutch pedal with holding the accelerator. Also, if there is DTC operating aid on the automobile, turn it off before using launch control.

Electrical launch control operates by using an electronic-driven accelerator and a computer program. The software drives the accelerator according to engine specifications to make the car accelerate smoothly and as fast as possible, avoiding spinning of the drive wheels, engine failure due to over-revving, and clutch and gearbox problems. This feature is only available at the start of the race, when the car is stopped in the starting grid. After the car is running at a certain speed, the software is disabled.

Famous quotes containing the word works:

And when discipline is concerned, the parent who has to make it to the end of an eighteen-hour day—who works at a job and then takes on a second shift with the kids every night—is much more likely to adopt the survivor’s motto: “If it works, I’ll use it.” From this perspective, dads who are even slightly less involved and emphasize firm limits or character- building might as well be talking a foreign language. They just don’t get it.
