Lauder Culture Quest
In the summer of 2011, the Lauder Institute held the first Lauder Culture Quest. Over 50 Lauder students from the Class of 2011 and the Class of 2012 flew into Belize City and met in Tikal, Guatemala and "raced" to Panama City in teams of four. Teams were awarded points for participation in local cultural events, visiting historically significant sites, assisting local entrepreneurs, interviewing political figures, etc. The ten day event is scheduled to happen each year in different locations around the world.

Famous quotes containing the words culture and/or quest:
“Everyone in our culture wants to win a prize. Perhaps that is the grand lesson we have taken with us from kindergarten in the age of perversions of Dewey-style education: everyone gets a ribbon, and praise becomes a meaningless narcotic to soothe egoistic distemper.”
—Gerald Early (b. 1952)
“Remember that the peer group is important to young adolescents, and theres nothing wrong with that. Parents are often just as important, however. Dont give up on the idea that you can make a difference.”
—The Lions Clubs International and the Quest Nation. The Surprising Years, I, ch.5 (1985)
