Estrada co-edited and co-authored Immigration In America Today: An Encyclopedia. He was also listed as one of the most dangerous professors in America in David Horowitz's book The Professors.
In 2008 Estrada, an early supporter of Barack Obama, was elected as a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention held in Denver, Colorado in August.
