Career

Born Lawrence Dunhill, he attended East High School in Denver, Colorado. During most of the Earth, Wind & Fire years, Larry produced, performed, composed and arranged for side-projects like Dee Dee Bridgewater, Caldera, Ramsey Lewis, Ronnie Laws, Stanley Turrentine, Sylvia St. James, Lenny White with Twennynine, and many more.

Dunn has also toured with Al McKay and his L.A. All Stars. He is, together with ex-EWF keyboardist Morris Pleasure and ex-EWF guitarist Sheldon Reynolds, one of the founding members of the band Devoted Spirits. The first Devoted Spirits album, Devoted Spirits: A Tribute to Earth Wind and Fire, contains their cover versions of classic EWF songs as well as some new material. A second Devoted Spirits album, called The Answer, is due to be released. Dunn and his wife Luisa are owners of Source Productions, and are involved in music for TV, film and commercials in addition to working with various other musicians.

Dunn has appeared live multiple times on the Jazz Matrix Show on Solar Radio with Michael J. Parlett. Dunn's second solo album will also soon be released, preceded by a single Finally, a collaboration with Beloyd Taylor and James Ingram.

In a 2012 interview with Canadian blogger Vonny the Ken Doll, Dunn discussed working on his new project, the Larry Dunn Orchestra with former Earth, Wind & Fire band mate Sheldon Reynolds. He stated music icon and friend Stevie Wonder was a large fan of the new orchestra and got on stage to perform with the group during their Elements of Fire concert at The Waterfront arena in Marina Del Rey California.

    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

Clearly, society has a tremendous stake in insisting on a woman’s natural fitness for the career of mother: the alternatives are all too expensive.
    Ann Oakley (b. 1944)

Like the old soldier of the ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty. Goodbye.
    Douglas MacArthur (1880–1964)
