Community Support
Most online conlanger fora and communities predate the LCS and are independent of it (e.g. the CONLANG mailing list and Zompist Bulletin Board). The LCS provides web hosting for a number of newer community-oriented projects, including the Conlang Atlas of Language Structures, a mirror of the CONLANG mailing list archives, a conlang blog aggregator, and archive hosting of deceased conlangers' websites, in addition to hosting for individual members' conlang-oriented homepages.
The LCS started a podcast in February 2009; as of October 2010, an academic journal is in the works as well.
The LCS also holds a Language Creation Conference roughly every other year; conferences so far were held in 2006 (Berkeley, California), 2007 (Berkeley, California), 2009 (Providence, Rhode Island), and 2011 (Groningen, the Netherlands).

Famous quotes containing the words community and/or support:
“When a language createsas it doesa community within the present, it does so only by courtesy of a community between the present and the past.”
—Christopher Ricks (b. 1933)
“... the first reason for psychologys failure to understand what people are and how they act, is that clinicians and psychiatrists, who are generally the theoreticians on these matters, have essentially made up myths without any evidence to support them; the second reason for psychologys failure is that personality theory has looked for inner traits when it should have been looking for social context.”
—Naomi Weisstein (b. 1939)
