Langley Thunder

The Langley Thunder are a Senior A box lacrosse club, based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The team competes in the 7-team Western Lacrosse Association (WLA).

The team is made up of local talent. Local stars include Langley players Garrett Billings (2009 WLA Rookie of the year, 2009 WLA 1st team all-star) and Kyle Belton. The Thunder team notables include Mike Grimes (2010 WLA Top Defensive player, 2010 WLA 1st team all-star), Stephan Leblanc (Team Canada, NLL 2010 Rookie of the year), Brett Mydske (Team Canada), Athan Iannucci (2008 NLL MVP, single season scoring record holder).

Other stars include Matt Leveque, Kevin Crosswell, Rob Van Beek, Kyle McEwen and Alex Turner. The players are employed in the Greater Vancouver area and play for the love of the sport & for their loyal fans.

On August 27, 2011, the Langley Thunder beat the heavily favoured New Westminster Salmonbellies 7-5 in game six of their best of seven series. The Langley Thunder won its first Western Lacrosse Association title in franchise history. 2011 WLA rookie of the year goalie Brodie MacDonald was named Most Valuable Player.

The Langley Thunder hosted the national Mann Cup championships in September 2011 at the Langley Events Centre where they played the Brampton Excelsiors. Ultimately losing the series 4-1 to the visitors.
