Landscape Scale Conservation - Existing Woodland

Existing Woodland

In recent years studies have been carried out across the UK looking at much wider range of habitats. In Wales the Pumlumon Large Area Conservation Project focusses on upland conservation in areas of marginal agriculture and forestry . The North Somerset Levels and Moors Project addresses wetlands. There are several woodland based initiatives, often focusing on increasing linkages between existing woodland. An unusual approach is being taken in the Black Country where Black Country Living Landscape is applying these principals to an urban area.

Famous quotes containing the words existing and/or woodland:

Who are we? And for what are we going to fight? Are we the titled slaves of George the Third? The military conscripts of Napoleon the Great? Or the frozen peasants of the Russian Czar? No—we are the free born sons of America; the citizens of the only republic now existing in the world; and the only people on earth who possess rights, liberties, and property which they dare call their own.
    Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)

I already, and for weeks afterward, felt my nature the coarser for this part of my woodland experience, and was reminded that our life should be lived as tenderly and daintily as one would pluck a flower.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
