In the fall of 2006, Lakewood's football team reached the quarterfinals, and the 2007 girls golf team won the Jefferson County League. The 2008 Girls' Golf team defended their Jefferson County League Title, as well as won the Metro-West Region.

The girls basketball team was League Champions and advanced to the State finals in the 2007-2008 season. Other recent titles include admirable standings for the softball and girls cross-country teams, which reached the State Championships in 2006. The softball team won 2 consecutive 4A state championships in 1997 and 1998. Also, the Lakewood Boys Soccer Team placed second in Jeffco 5A to Chatfield in the Fall of 2007. They went 7-2-1 in their Conference and 9-4-4 overall. Previous records for the boys soccer team include:

2005-2006: Conference: 6-11-3 Overall: 10-17-3 8th in conference out of 11

2006-2007 Conference: 5-4-1 Overall: 7-4-2 7th in conference out of 11 Lakewood has produced a number Professional Football players: Joe Romig, Mike Tracey, Mike Schnitker and Scott Piper 2007-2008 Conference: 7-2-1 Overall: 9-4-4 2nd in conference out of 11

In 2009, the Lakewood Freshman Football Team went 10-0 and crushed Columbine, a team that went in as a 10-0 favorite, 56-19.

Also in 2009, the Boys Swim and Dive Team won first place at League, making them the first League Champion team in the history of LHS. They also won league in 2010 and 2011.

In the 2010 Fall season, the Lakewood Boy's tennis team won second place in League, with Scott Strachan as 1 singles and Ze-Hong Ong as 2 singles winning first team all conference. They also won second place at regionals and 1 singles, 2 singles, 3 singles, 2 doubles, and 4 doubles all went to the CHSAA 5A State Tennis Tournament.

In the 2011 fall season, the #10 ranked Lakewood Varsity football team went to the 2011 CHSAA 5A State Championship to face #1 ranked Columbine High School after beating #2 ranked Grand Junction High School in the quarter-final and #3 ranked Pomona High School in the semi-final. This will be the first time that Lakewood has been in the state championship since 1985, when they beat Cherry Creek High School 47-8.

In 2011 winter season, the Girls Swim and Dive Team won second place in League.
