Lakewood has both honors and Advanced Placement programs for more advanced students. Lakewood is one of five International Baccalaureate Secondary schools in the Jefferson County School District.
Lakewood has been featured twice in 5280 Magazine, once in the August 2007 issue and again in the September 2008 issue. In August 2007, Lakewood tied Regis High School for 9th place in the category: "Denver's Best High Schools". It was also again featured in September 2008.
