History
The name "Lake Park" is derived from the campuses being between "Lake" Street and Irving "Park" Road. The citizens of north DuPage County founded Lake Park High School District 108 in 1953, and the doors opened at what is now East Campus, 600 South Medinah Road, Roselle, in September 1956 to 320 students. In less than twenty years, the number of students had increased substantially and West Campus was built in 1975. The east campus borders the Medinah Country Club that has hosted three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975, 1990), two PGA Championships (1999, 2006), and the Ryder Cup in 2012.
On November 14th, 2012, multiple false bomb threat calls were made to East Campus roughly around 9:00 A.M CT. Police quickly arrived on scene and no explosive devices were found; the students were evacuated safely home. This is the third bomb threat the school has received since 2004.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“While the Republic has already acquired a history world-wide, America is still unsettled and unexplored. Like the English in New Holland, we live only on the shores of a continent even yet, and hardly know where the rivers come from which float our navy.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“A man will not need to study history to find out what is best for his own culture.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Postmodernism is, almost by definition, a transitional cusp of social, cultural, economic and ideological history when modernisms high-minded principles and preoccupations have ceased to function, but before they have been replaced with a totally new system of values. It represents a moment of suspension before the batteries are recharged for the new millennium, an acknowledgment that preceding the future is a strange and hybrid interregnum that might be called the last gasp of the past.”
—Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. Sunday Times: Books (London, April 21, 1991)
