Water Quality
Recently, pollution of the lake has been slowing, in contrast to previous years. In 1998, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) identified Lake Frank as "impaired by nutrients" on its list of impaired surface waters. Eutrophic conditions in the lake were described at that time, evidenced by excessive algal growth and low dissolved oxygen levels. In 2002, MDE prepared a report based on more recent monitoring data which indicated improved conditions. The 2002 report proposed that the lake be removed from the impairment listing.

Famous quotes containing the words water and/or quality:
“I will catch Christ with a greased worm,
And when the Prince of Darkness stalks
My bloodstream to its Stygian term . . .
On water the Man-Fisher walks.”
—Robert Lowell (19171977)
“Were headed for collapse, if you want my opinion, Missy. I can see it in the fallin off of the quality of vagrants. There was a time you could find real good company in almost any jungle youd pick, men who could talk, men whod read a book now and then; and now, what do you find, a lot of dirty little guttersnipes no decent tramp would want to associate with.
Well, its been that way all through history.”
—John Dos Passos (18961970)
