Language
The native language of all Laks is the Lak language. Lak is a member of the highly diverse Northeast Caucasian language family. Within the family, its position is highly debated, but it is generally thought to be an isolate, which either developed separately from an early point or, alternatively, all whose close relatives have gone extinct.

—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
“Man, even man debased by the neocapitalism and pseudosocialism of our time, is a marvelous being because he sometimes speaks. “Man acts as though he were the shaper and master of language, while in fact language remains the master of man.”
