Lackawanna Old Road

The Lackawanna Old Road was part of the original mainline of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DLW) in New Jersey. Opened in 1856, the Old Road ran 39.6 miles (63.7 km) from Port Morris Junction to Slateford Junction. It was relegated to secondary status after the 1911 completion of the Lackawanna Cut-Off, which was 11 miles (18 km) shorter.

Famous quotes containing the word road:

Evil can be got very easily and exists in quantity: the road to her is very smooth, and she lives near by. But between us and virtue the gods have placed the sweat of our brows; the road to her is long and steep, and it is rough at first; but when a man has reached the top, then she is easy to attain, although before she was hard.
    Hesiod (c. 8th century B.C.)
