Kuala Lumpur competed in the Malaysian Premier League, Malaysian FA Cup, and Malaysia Cup in season 2009. Despite finishing fourth and outside the promotion places, KL were offered promotion to the Malaysian Super League due to the withdrawals of Kuala Muda Naza FC and UPB-MyTeam FC from the top-flight.
