Krasnoyarsk Time (KRAT) is the time zone eight hours ahead of UTC (UTC+8) and 4 hours ahead of Moscow Time (MSK+4). KRAT is the official time zone for central and east Siberian regions of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Khakassia and Tuva.
Regions formerly used this time zone include Novosibirsk Oblast (until 1993; this time zone was previously known as Novosibirsk Time NOVT/NOVST but had to be renamed for this reason) and Kemerovo Oblast (until spring 2010). These regions now use Omsk Time (UTC+7/MSK+3).
On 27 March 2011, Russia moved to year-round daylight saving time. Instead of switching between UTC+7 and UTC+8, Krasnoyarsk Time became fixed at UTC+8.

Famous quotes containing the word time:
“The democratic youth ... lives along day by day, gratifying the desire that occurs to him, at one time drinking and listening to the flute, at another downing water and reducing, now practising gymnastic, and again idling and neglecting everything; and sometimes spending his time as though he were occupied in philosophy.”
—Plato (c. 427347 B.C.)
