As of 2001 India census, Kosi Kalan had a population of 45,684. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Kosi Kalan has an average literacy rate of 51%, lower than the national average of 65%: male literacy is 59%, and female literacy is 41%. In Kosi Kalan, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. But literacy rate has increased among the age group of 0–30 years in the last decade and every 3rd person in this group is either intermediate or a graduate.Kosi Kalan have population of many casts like Vaishya,Brahmins,Jat,Thakur,Jatav,Muslim subcasts like Kasai,Muslim dhobi etc.mainly and Balmiki,Cori,Mali,Mathil Brahmin{Badai},Gurjars,Nai etc.minorly and religions.According to election commission of India Kosi Kalan have more than 30,000 voters out of which about 28% Vaishya and 20% Muslim community voters.
