King's University College (University of Western Ontario) - History

History

It was founded as the "College of Christ the King" in 1954, and was affiliated with St. Peter's Seminary. The name was changed to King's College in 1966 after it became affiliated with UWO; unlike Brescia and Huron, UWO's other affiliated colleges, King's did not initially adopt the "University College" name, to avoid confusion with the university of the same name in Edmonton. The current name for the campus was adopted in 2004.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

I believe that in the history of art and of thought there has always been at every living moment of culture a “will to renewal.” This is not the prerogative of the last decade only. All history is nothing but a succession of “crises”Mof rupture, repudiation and resistance.... When there is no “crisis,” there is stagnation, petrification and death. All thought, all art is aggressive.
    Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)

At present cats have more purchasing power and influence than the poor of this planet. Accidents of geography and colonial history should no longer determine who gets the fish.
    Derek Wall (b. 1965)

The history of any nation follows an undulatory course. In the trough of the wave we find more or less complete anarchy; but the crest is not more or less complete Utopia, but only, at best, a tolerably humane, partially free and fairly just society that invariably carries within itself the seeds of its own decadence.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
