The Castle Now
The castle and estate was finally sold by the Fitzgerald family in the early 1960s. Kilkea Castle was then run successfully as a hotel for decades, but entered Examinership in 2009, a victim of the 2008–2010 Irish financial crisis. It is now closed down and up for lease/sale/rent.
