Khan of Kalat

Khan of Kalat or Khan-e-Qalat (Balochi: خان قلات) is the title of former rulers of State of Kalat. Kalat state is now part of Balochistan, Pakistan. The rulers in Kalat were always subject to the political authority of a larger state, after the Mongol invasion they were subject to the Mughal emperors in Delhi, then to the rulers in Kandahar, after 1839 to the British, and finally to the Pakistan government.

The rulers of Kalat held the title of Vali originally but in 1739 also took the title (Begler Begi) Khan usually shortened to Khan. The last Khan of Kalat had the privilege of being the President of the Council of Rulers for the Baluchistan States Union.
