The Talk of The Town
In the 1970s, with less network programming available, KFBK began programming talk shows as part of their broadcast day, promoting themselves as "The Talk of the Town." After a brief trial as an adult contemporary music station, ownership committed themselves to a format that included news blocks during morning and afternoon drive time, with the remainder of the day's programming featuring local talk shows. With the FCC implementing a newspaper-broadcasting cross-ownership rule, McClatchy would be forced to divest itself of its radio and television stations. KFBK would be sold to Group W - Westinghouse and later would shift network affiliation to ABC Radio.

Famous quotes containing the words talk and/or town:
“He hadnt known me fifteen minutes, and yet he was ... ready to talk ... I was still to learn that Munshin, like many people from the capital, could talk openly about his personal life while remaining a dream of espionage in his business operations.”
—Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
“All of childhoods unanswered questions must finally be passed back to the town and answered there. Heroes and bogey men, values and dislikes, are first encountered and labeled in that early environment. In later years they change faces, places and maybe races, tactics, intensities and goals, but beneath those penetrable masks they wear forever the stocking-capped faces of childhood.”
—Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
