Famous quotes containing the words keith, van and/or horne:

If the barricades went up in our streets and the poor became masters, I think the priests would escape, I fear the gentlemen would; but I believe the gutters would simply be running with the blood of philanthropists.
    —Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

An indirect quotation we can usually expect to rate only as better or worse, more or less faithful, and we cannot even hope for a strict standard of more and less; what is involved is evaluation, relative to special purposes, of an essentially dramatic act.
—Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

You have to know exactly what you want out of your career. If you want to be a star, you don’t bother with other things.
    —Marilyn Horne (b. 1934)
