Keith Moon - Personal Life and Relationships - Birth Date

Birth Date

Before the release of "Dear Boy: The Life of Keith Moon" by Tony Fletcher in 1998, it was assumed that Moon's date of birth was actually a year later, on 23 August, 1947. This erroneous date appeared in several otherwise reliable sources, such as the Townshend-authorised biography "Before I Get Old: The Story of The Who." The incorrect date had been propagated by Moon in interviews, and accepted as correct, before Fletcher disproved it by producing a facsimile of Moon's birth certificate in his book.

Famous quotes containing the words birth and/or date:

That was the birth of sin. Not doing it, but KNOWING about it. Before the apple, [Adam and Eve] had shut their eyes and their minds had gone dark. Now, they peeped and pried and imagined. They watched themselves.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

Until I was twenty-five, I had no development at all. From my twenty-fifth year I date my life. Three weeks have scarcely passed, at any time between then and now, that I have not unfolded within myself. But I feel that I am now come to the inmost leaf of the bulb, and that shortly the flower must fall to the mould.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
