Freedom Fighter
The state of Hyderabad was ruled by the Nizam authorities between 1724 and 1949. They used a private army known as Razakars (Hyderabad). From his teen years, Narayana mobilized people to face the Razakars and organized Dalams. He was arrested and imprisoned at Chanchalguda central prison for 4 months. Famous quotes containing the words freedom and/or fighter:
“Freedom of enterprise was from the beginning not altogether a blessing. As the liberty to work or to starve, it spelled toil, insecurity, and fear for the vast majority of the population. If the individual were no longer compelled to prove himself on the market, as a free economic subject, the disappearance of this freedom would be one of the greatest achievements of civilization.”
—Herbert Marcuse (18981979)
“A pleasant smell of frying sausages
Attacks the sense, along with an old, mostly invisible
Photograph of what seems to be girls lounging around
An old fighter bomber, circa 1942 vintage.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
