Karl Green

Karl Green (born Karl Anthony Green on 31 July 1947, at Park Hospital, Davyhulme) is an English songwriter, musician and bassist who was the bass guitarist and backing singer for the 1960s British band, Herman's Hermits, which featured Peter Noone. Green co-wrote a number of songs for the band, and was a capable player but was replaced by session players on some of Herman's Hermits mid-career singles. Green nevertheless played on many Herman's Hermits recordings.

On VH1's My Generation: Herman's Hermits episode he speaks fondly of his early days with Noone, and of his admiration for their guitarist Derek "Lek" Leckenby.

As of 2001, Green manages sound systems for the Queen Elizabeth and Festival Halls on London's South Bank.

Famous quotes containing the words karl and/or green:

The greatest horrors in the history of mankind are not due to the ambition of the Napoleons or the vengeance of the Agamemnons, but to the doctrinaire philosophers. The theories of the sentimentalist Rousseau inspired the integrity of the passionless Robespierre. The cold-blooded calculations of Karl Marx led to the judicial and business-like operations of the Cheka.
    Aleister Crowley (1875–1947)

The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
    Is my destroyer.
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)
