Karamlish - Population

Population

There are between 600 and 650 families in Karamlish. The vast majority of the population is ethnically Assyrian (also known as Chaldean and Syriacs). Historically, the population was mostly part of the Church of the East; however, many converted to Catholicism from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Today, the inhabitants of Karamlish are mainly members of the Chaldean Catholic Church, but there are also members of the Syriac Orthodox Church and Assyrian Church of the East.

We in the West do not refrain from childbirth because we are concerned about the population explosion or because we feel we cannot afford children, but because we do not like children.

The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force.
    Adolf Hitler (1889–1945)

I think that cars today are almost the exact equivalent of the great Gothic cathedrals: I mean the supreme creation of an era, conceived with passion by unknown artists, and consumed in image if not in usage by a whole population which appropriates them as a purely magical object.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)
