The main higher education institutions of Kapurthala are the NJSA Government College, established in 1856, popularly known as the 'Randhir College', after its founder Randhir Singh of Kapurthala and the Hindu Kanya College for women. Recently Lord Krishna Polytechnic has also been set up nearby and an Engineering college by the name of College of Engineering and Management, Kapurthala (prestigious college started by renowned personality Mr. Rakesh Bajaj) famously known as CEM, Kapurthala is operational from last 10 years (since 2002). There are numerous Primary and Secondary schools in Kapurthala, notably the Sainik School,J.K. Public Sr.Secondary School{prestigious school started by renowned personality of city Sh.Jhanda Mal Sharma Ji}, Anand Public Sr. Sec. School,Prita Lee Lesson Sr.Sec.School, Kapurthala Public High School, Bawa Lalvani Public School, MGN Public School ,Little Angels Co-Ed School, Kendriya Vidyalaya (Kapurthala Cantt.) and the only ICSE pattern based convent school, Christ King Convent School.
