As per the 2001 India census, Kanigiri has a population of 21,999, with a male-female ratio of 51%-49%. Kanigiri has an average literacy rate of 67%,which is higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 60%.Population of below 6 years of age is 11%.There are several buses from kanigiri.It has 2nd largest bus stand in prakasam dist after Ongole.Now kanigiri is a big town only thing is central govt should start railway line between Nadikudi to Sri kalahasthi sothat transportation facility will increase.
