Kandukondain Kandukondain - Reception and Box Office

Reception and Box Office

The film opened to mostly positive reviews. Indian Express stated "A progressive film encouraging female independence, yet staying a warm family tale in essence, Kandukondain Kandukondain is the kind of film every intelligent movie-goer ought not to miss. Almost every supporting character pitches in an impressive performance, thus making Kandukondain Kandukondain a wonderful watch". Rediff stated "Kandukondain... had a powerful story with intense and well-developed characters. It is not that the film does not have any memorable moments. It is a delight to see a young woman who is passionately in love with poetry and quotes Bharatiyar liberally; a symbol of a bygone era when books were a passion with youngsters. One of the most poignant scenes in the film is Mammootty's outburst against the system, which forgets war heroes who lay down their lives for a cause". The film successfully completed 100 days. Its audio rights were sold for record 2.2 crore.

Famous quotes containing the words reception, box and/or office:

To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)

A box of teak, a box of sandalwood,
    A brass-ringed spyglass in a case,
A coin, leaf-thin with many polishings,
Last kingdom of a gold forgotten face,
    These lie about the room....
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

What office is there which involves more responsibility, which requires more qualifications, and which ought, therefore, to be more honourable, than that of teaching?
    Harriet Martineau (1802–1876)
