Transforming through his J-Spirit (Jスピリット, Jei Supiritto?) Henshin belt, J can execute the J-Kick (Jキック, Jei Kikku?). But J's greatest ability is to assume Jumbo Formation (ジャンボフォーメーション, Janbo Fōmēshon?) by gathering the lifeforce from surrounding life forms to grow to giant size at 40 meters tall to contend with larger opponents. In this state, J can execute the Jumbo Rider Kick (ジャンボライダーキック, Janbo Raidā Kikku?).

J also rides on the J-Crosser (ジェイクロッサー, Jei Kurossā?), a Suzuki on-road bike (2012 Suzuki DR650SE) that changes along with J with ability to reach speeds up to 1300 km/h. J can use the J-Crosser to execute the J-Strike (ジェイストライク, Jei Sutoraiku?) attack.

Early designs by Shotaro Ishinomori give Kamen Rider J a pair of wing-like appendages on his back to mark the organic origins of the character's powers.
