Kamaraj Plan was a political plan formulated in 1963 by K. Kamaraj, a senior leader of Indian National Congress party.At that time he was in the third term as the CHIEF MINISTER of Tamil Nadu. He proposed that all senior Congress leaders should resign from their ministerial posts and devote all their energy to the re-vitalization of the Congress. The plan had support of Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India.
Six Union Ministers and six Chief Ministers including Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jagjivan Ram, Morarji Desai, Biju Patnaik and S.K. Patil followed suit and resigned from their posts. In 1964, Kamaraj was elected the President of the All India Congress and he successfully navigated the nation through the stormy years following Nehru's death.
