Lasn was one of the first people to call for an Occupy Wall Street (OWS) demonstration, but has been careful not to claim ownership of it.

In 2004, he wrote and signed an Adbusters article entitled "Why Won't Anyone Say They Are Jewish?", in which he identified, from a list of George W. Bush-era neoconservatives, those who happen to be Jewish. Alex Kane of Mondoweiss defended Lasn in relation to Occupy Wall Street, accosting Commentary for inaccurate reporting, and referring to a concerted effort by neoconservative organisations of attempting to discredit OWS by accusing the movement of being motivated by anti-semitism, which allegation The New York Times did not confirm.

Famous quotes containing the word views:

It is surely a matter of common observation that a man who knows no one thing intimately has no views worth hearing on things in general. The farmer philosophizes in terms of crops, soils, markets, and implements, the mechanic generalizes his experiences of wood and iron, the seaman reaches similar conclusions by his own special road; and if the scholar keeps pace with these it must be by an equally virile productivity.
    Charles Horton Cooley (1864–1929)
