About Municipality
Kallakurichi became Town Panchayat in the year of 1960 from village status and subsequently upgraded as Special Grade Town Panchayat. It was further upgraded to Third Grade Municipality from 20th October 2004. Again, this Municipality is upgraded as First Grade Municipality from 09.08.2010. The area of this Municipality is an extent of 11.69 Sq.Km. As per 2011 census, the total population of this Municipality is 51854.
This Municipality is divided into 21 wards. Municipal council is functioning headed by the Chairman, along with 21 Councilors.
