STARS Spacecraft

The Space Tethered Autonomous Robotic Satellite (STARS) robotic spacecraft developed by the Kagawa Satellite Development Project in the Kagawa University consists of mother and daughter satellites connected by a tether. STARS was launched 23 January 2009 as a secondary payload aboard H-IIA flight 15, which also launched GOSAT. STARS will test tether deployment methods which might be used for tether propulsion systems.

Famous quotes containing the word stars:

It was like passing a boundary to dive
Into the sun-filled water, brightly leafed
And limbed and lighted out from bank to bank.
That’s how the stars shine during the day.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
