Personal Life
In 1997, Etchingham married the television producer Nick Gardner in Leicester, the couple met whilst both working on the BBC's Newsround programme. They have two sons, both of whom were born in Hammersmith and Fulham, London: Leo Francis (born late 2002/early 2003) and James Joseph (born 2006).
